Coach to Crawley??

Posted by Powelly on January 9, 2012 at 11:35 AM Comments comments (5)

Travelling to Crawley? Come with us!

Cheltenham play away to Crawley Town on February 7th. As it stands we are joint second and Crawley are 1st, so it's a huge game and a game where we need a good backing both vocally and in numbers.

I am eyeing up a coach, but it all depends on Interest. Spurs was a great day, but this is more important. The focus is promotion and beating Crawley could have a big factor in that.

However, if Crawley draw with Hull in their fourth round FA Cup tie then there's the possibility that the replay will be on the 7th, meaning our fixture would be moved once again.

If you're interested then get in touch with me, coach price is £13

Cheers.

Places are not promised, the first 50 to pay will secure a spot.

I'm afriad i could not get the 70 seated coach for reasons out of my control. We have a 50 seater, the first 50 people to pay will get a space, it's as simple as that. The price is £13.

Thanks.

Tranmere, Vale, Oxford & Luton!

Big games for the Robins

First of all let me say well done to the Wymans that travelled to Tranmere. I couldn't make it, but was pleased to hear the tractor song through bbc radio gloucestershire airways. I'll be at Oxford on November 26th and Luton on December 3rd for the FA Cup second round fixture.

It would be fanastic if you could also be at those two away fixtures. Oxford are going well in the League, it'll be a big test for us, it's only an hours drive so lets get in the away end and make sure we're heard. The same goes for Luton in the FA Cup. The Luton fans seem to think they've already won this one, refering to Cheltenham as a "tinpot non league team". It would be fantastic to prove them wrong. The side certainly deserve your support and there's nothing like winning away from home.

However, before those two away outings we host Port Vale. Port Vale have had a creditable start to the season, They currently sit in 10th position, 7 points behind Cheltenham. The Wymans will be in our usual In2Print block, so be there and be loud. It's a massive period of our season with some tough fixtures coming thick and fast. They need our backing.

Bradford Away - My Story

Fireworks at Valley Parade

We left Whaddon Road at 9.50am via the Official double decker coach. I hadn'ttravelled on the Officials for some time. Maybe I began to realise why when Iwas quickly told  to "turn that down" from another passenger, asI watched a 60 second video on my mobile phone.

Anyway with the lunch box stocked up and some Wymans banter flying aroundthe trip wasn't too bad. We arrived at this beast of a stadium at 1315. Unfortunatelythere wasn’t a pub in sight but after a brisk 10 minute walk we found a small, local which showed the football. A few of the lads played a few games of poolwhich was actually very painful. A couple drinks later and we left for the AwayEnd.

We got into the ground at about 14.40, it seemed very empty but in fairnesspeople of Bradford quickly filed in, the attendance was eventuallyannounced as 9,600.

Cheltenham started very brightly and took the lead in the 8th minute viaKaid Mohammed after a free-flowing Cheltenham attack involving a clever dummyfrom Duffy. The early signs were very promising, further chances came and went. Most notably was Marlon Packs 25 yard curler which rebounded of the foot of thepost. Bradford however did come back into the game and enjoyed a succession ofcorners as the half came to an end at 1-0.

The second 45 saw Cheltenham dominate and control the game. Our onlyfrustration was despite plenty of opportunities to extend the lead, we couldn'tdo so. Marlon Packs 70 yard effort which was clawed off the line by theback-peddling goalkeeper was a whisker from winning the goal of the seasonaward. Thankfully Bradford were as bad as we were good, and they didn't troubleButland who enjoyed a quiet afternoon between the sticks. Bennett and Elliotwon their individual battles and never gave the Bantams a sniff of hope, inwhat was one of the most comfortable 1-0 victories I’ve ever witnessed.

After enduring 5 minutes of injury time the job was complete. The playersand staff came across to the visiting support for some fist clinching andclapping. The long haul back to Cheltenhamshire flew past with plenty morebanter; we arrived home at 2045 to a fireworks display in the Whaddon Road carpark. However, for the 124 that travelled to Yorkshire the fireworks happenedhours earlier at Valley Parade as Cheltenham climb to third!

A big game in a massive stadium

Cheltenham travel to Yorkshire in hope of adding another 3 points tothe impressive tally we've already chalked up. Bradford on the other hand havehad a slow start to their league season, currently finding themselves in 21st,having won only 3 of their 16 fixtures to date. However, Bradford claimed apoint away at Swindon Town on Saturday, and they'll be a tough test for MarkYates and his players.

Cheltenham will travel to Bradford high in confidence on back ofbeating a hard working Argyle outfit, it was a hard fought win but one thatshowed great character from the Cheltenham players. Character that will neededtime and time again if we’re too continue our good run of form.

After several seasons of suffering and frustrations, our fortunes duetoo a far greater squad are changing. There's a buzz in the air, there's talkin the town and so I urge you to do your best to get to these far flung fieldslike Bradford, get behind the side, in what's a extremely exciting time. Coachplaces for the trip are still available. We understand it can be exspensive, but we need the Wymans there, to get behind the lads, there's nothing quite like winning away from home

COYR!!!
